Flutes (Meigan, Ava, and Jade)
What we did
Headjoint sounds: Establishing embouchure and correct air stream for good sound
Playing a sustained sound for a whole note followed by 4 counts of rest
Proper posture and hand position
Holding the flute in proper posture, pressing the keys to play Bb and performing with the previous rhythm pattern
Concepts include:
embouchure, aperture, whole note/rest, beat, tempo, measure
What to do
Continue trying to make the Bb note speak. This coorrelates to line of our book.
Correct pitches/fingerings
Establish consistent steady tempo
Start each note with a "Ha-Too" articulation
Begin to establish proper tone quality
Establish consistent proper posture
Mason - Clarinets/Alto Saxophone (All present - Katera forgot instrument)
What we did
Mouthpiece set-up with barrel, reed and ligature creating the proper sound (Antonio only but is missing ligature so we were not successful today)
Playing a sustained sound for a whole note followed by 4 counts of rest
Relates to page 6 in the method book (4 counts play/ 4 counts rest)
Identify, understand and play a whole note/rest with acceptable tone
Counting time for 4 beats groups (common time measures)
